Brand identity design
The agency was born out of the desire to create a space where creative ideas could be nurtured and developed to their fullest potential.
At cokoon, they are passionate about music, art and the creative sphere in Nigeria. They develop people, ideas and experiences for success and impact. They STAND OUT through our processes and dynamism in resources
After receiving the brief I proceeded to research into the industry where the business fits, I also looked into the brand story and tried to see how it aligned with its mission and vision.
I noticed that for many brands in this industry, their identity of the brand was leaned heavily on the clients/artist they worked with.
I wanted design an identity that speaks for its own self and the clients/artist(e)s can take queues from
I sketched out as many ideas as possible, then proceeded to illustrate these early sketches
for the initial concepts, I played around with the O's in 'cokoon'. I noticed that stacking the outlined O's created a shape that vaguely looks like a cokoon
I also worked out other ideas I had. I centred the direction around the ‘K’ in Cokoon. A bit soft but still bold. The concept is to show the blossom the comes with a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.
Played around with the K to create what can be interpreted as simplified illustration of a butterfly wing. When one K is mirrored and placed on the straight side of the other K, we can also see a bit more clearly the butterfly wing.
With a bit more tinkering, the final logo icon was morphed from the ‘O’s in Cokoon. It is also supposed to have a semblance of an actual cocoon. The second set of ‘O’s in Cokoon is also morphed to form an infinity loop
It is expected that any brand - personal or corporate that comes to the Cokoon should unapologetically standout. and I tried to depict that with bold sans-serif type.
I created a brand guide to make sure that the brand is represented correctly and consistently across all media as well as provide usage guidelines for any future uses
Overall it was a fun and learning experience working on the project. All that was crowned by the clients pleasure with the final outcome
