It's like AirBnB for Storage. This a product for renters who needs spaces to store their belongings and for hosts who have storage spaces to maximise.
It enables a unique peer-to-peer model of connecting “renters” in need of storage space with “hosts” in their neighbourhood who are willing to lease storage space in their home, garage or even driveway.
Unlike other space rental platforms like AirBnB, hosts don’t have to deal with the unpredictable human factor which ensure the state of the storage space is always maintained.
We carried out a competitor analysis and as seen in the image below, kips is in a very unique position as being the first of its kind in this part of the world.
Also looked into the demographic of potential users and it's market viability
Before going on to designing the web app/platform, we had to design and set the brands visual identity. which included the logo, colours, type etc
Primary logo —
The Primary logo is made up of a letter-mark gotten from a san-serif typeface paired with an icon similar to the roof of a warehouse.
The logo was designed to be bold and unambiguous at first contact or interaction-with elements that give clues to the industry it represents. In this case, a icon that bares the shape of a traditional warehouse/factory
Secondary logo —
Very much like the Primary logo, the secondary is made up of a letter-mark enclosed in a warehouse-like icon
UI design —
Now that the basic brand visual identity has been set. I proceeded to the UI design for the web based platform which is Kips.com first and primary product.
As mentioned earlier, Kips is peer-to-peer storage/space rental service. Users of this platform could both renters and landlords—it's a two way street
Coming off initial research, we mapped out user journeys that potential users will take to accomplish needed tasks
Hi-Fi Wireframes —
After approval and making needed changes to the initial sketches, I proceeded to make the final high fidelity wireframes and prototype them
Landing Page(s)—
We decided to have two landing pages, one for the renter and another for host. with slight modifications to their content and CTA's.
Home Page(s)—
The homepage showcases all storage spaces listed. filters can be applied to show specific listings. A search function is also available
Listing Details
Listing Details pages: Listing Details page for renters shows the listed space in detail, with options to share, save, reserve or message the host.
The other shows the details for the host with options to modify listing info, see rent history and delete the listing
User Dashboard
User dashboard showing all the necessary user information with option to edit/modify where needed
Admin Dashboard
Admin dashboard showing all the necessary user information with option to edit/modify where needed
We tested our design(prototype) with friends and a few other random people. The users were able to complete basic tasks. All the feedback was documented in a detailed report and necessary changes were made to the final design.
Altogether, the client was happy with the design and I handed over to the engineering team, while still being available to assist the engineers with whatever help they may need
