It features a neat UI and a non-distractive experience.
A lot of Nigerians struggle with their personal finance. Many people in paid employment often live from pay-check to pay-check, while small and medium scale business owners find it difficult to track their revenue and expenditure consequently, having little idea if their enterprise is making profit or loss.
The goal is to design a card and expense management system that helps users keep track of their financial activities - transactions; both revenues and expenditures.
We carried out primary and secondary research; user interviews and online survey.
The feedback from the online survey, user interviews, and details gathered from secondary research (online analysis of existing personal finance apps such as GoMoney and MINT) shows that the major points people are facing appear to be a lack of fiscal discipline and inadequate financial education.
As gathered from our research, the problem here can be summarised as the absence of real time Financial Data leading to poor Financial Planning
User personas
We drew out two distinct personas that represent our potential users
“I don’t really know where my money is going.”
“I get most of my money and receipts at the shop and spend some before I can take it to the bank.”
We curated as many ideas as possible and carefully sifted through the rubble to find the ones that best solve the problem
We also decided to make the most important information and actions available on the home screen for quick access
User flow diagram
User journey from launch to executing multiple tasks for both new user and existing users
We went minimalist keeping things as plain and clear as possible so that no data or information is lost or misinterpreted
Lo-fi wireframes
Hi-fi wireframes
We tested our design(prototype) with friends and a few other random people. The users were able to complete basic tasks like viewing details of their expense, adding an expense, creating a budget et al.
Generally, we got lots of positive feedback and if we build it out, we have a chance at delivering a truly useful product
